What is a Nurse Practitioner?
A Nurse Practitioner (NP) is an experienced Registered Nurse who has completed advanced university education at Master’s level and is endorsed by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
Nurse Practitioners are independent healthcare practitioners who can assess and diagnose health conditions, prescribe medicines, request pathology and diagnostic imaging, refer to specialists and provide Medicare-rebatable healthcare.
NPs work collaboratively with GPs, specialists and other health professionals when needed.
